Myanmar: Fear of torture or ill-treatment: Nilar Thein

Nilar Thein, the anti-government activist leader, was arrested on 10 September 2008. She is under interrogation in Aung Tha Pyay Detention Centre in Yangon (Rangoon, Myanmar’s largest city) and is at risk of torture and other ill-treatment. Nilar Thein went into hiding more than a year ago after leading some of the initial anti-government protests in August 2007.
