At midnight on 28 October 2007, a group of Haitian migrant workers and Dominicans of Haitian descent living in the community of Ranchadero were victims of a racist motivated attack. A number of people were reportedly wounded with machetes, houses were attacked, causing the destruction of three and money was stolen. Amnesty International is deeply concerned for the safety of those affected including Johnny Rivas and his family.
