In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. Amnesty International raises concerns over shortcomings in national legislation and national institutions to promote and protect human rights. The organization is also concerned about human rights violations in the Niger Delta; extrajudicial executions, torture and other ill-treatment, including rape; the death penalty; discrimination against lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender people; discrimination against women; and forced evictions.
