&lt;p&gt;The Africa Human Rights Education (AHRE) Project is a new four-year project, aimed at building human rights constituencies for social change through a variety of HRE instruments and tools. The project will be implemented in ten countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d&amp;rsquo;Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Uganda. At least two partners per country will participate in the project.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The job requires frequent travel in Africa. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;JOB PURPOSE:&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; To coordinate Amnesty International&amp;rsquo;s Africa Human Rights Education Project and to work with internal and external partners in order to ensure that the project is planned, implemented, reported and evaluated within the agreed timeline and resources. The project coordinator plays critical roles in supporting national coordinators and project participants in pioneering, designing and applying human rights education as a tool for change in human rights practices.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;DEPARTMENT PURPOSE:&lt;/strong&gt; The International Mobilization Programme (IMP) supports human rights activists and strengthens their activism, accountability and organizations. It enables the AI movement to increase diversity and grow its support base by facilitating professional services to enhance their capacities and competencies. It promotes sustainable human rights constituencies through human rights education. The programme works to improve human rights mobilization for greater impact through pioneering new models and approaches in engaging people for social change.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;AIIS PURPOSE:&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; The IS, which operates from a number of sites around the world, gathers and communicates accurate and action-oriented human rights information globally.&amp;nbsp; We campaign for meaningful human rights change; enable effective human rights activism and work to persuade governments and other actors to uphold universal human rights standards.&amp;nbsp; We provide strategic leadership, support and advice to the AI movement globally, fostering AI&amp;rsquo;s contribution, presence and public accountability throughout the world. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1. Support the development and coordinate the implementation of the Africa HRE project, including problem identification, project design and planning, implementation, budget management, evaluation and reporting to relevant bodies within and outside the AI movement to ensure that the project is effectively managed within the context of the International HRE Strategy and the parameters of the external funder. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. Support the development of the operational framework of the project and coordinate activities to ensure improved HRE capacity of project partners and participants and effective implementation of the national HRE Strategy by:&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; a) Identifying and supporting local partners by analysing HRE capacity building needs, and facilitating and coordinating capacity building initiatives for these partners.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; b) Identifying and developing regional HRE resources in order to support local partners, National Project Coordinators and Project Participants.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; c) Working with Project Advisory Group and National Advisory Committees to ensure that the project moves forward effectively and strategically and that key implementation issues are thoroughly addressed.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; d) Coordinate the support for the development and implementation of national HRE strategies and plans.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;e) Ensuring the high quality, transparency and accountability of key processes in the project, including: selection of partners and National Advisory Committee; recruitment of project participants; project design, development, and budgeting; project approval process; financial management and reporting; support system for partners and participants.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;f) Managing and supporting National Project Coordinators in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, learning, and reporting related to their national HRE projects.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3. Contribute to strategic analysis and the development of strategies to ensure the relevance of the project by:&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; a) Initiating and facilitating discussion on changes in the external world and how these have an impact on the AHRE project and inform AHRE project strategies.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;b) Organising an annual forum to ensure that project partners, participants and staff members have space to share, learn and revise their project strategies both at the regional and the national level.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4.&amp;nbsp;Coordinate the identification and analysis of lessons learned from current HRE practices within the region and the AI movement through a utilization-based evaluation.&amp;nbsp; Reproduce lessons learnt and facilitate a shared learning process in order to ensure effective implementation of the project. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;5.&amp;nbsp;Develop multi-faceted engagement with; project partners, Africa HRE movement and international HRE movement, including regional and international governmental and non-governmental HRE organizations.&amp;nbsp; This engagement should include; monitoring global and regional HRE trends and developments, periodically analysing opportunities and threats, making recommendations to the AI HRE movement in order to ensure the relevance of AHRE project and AI&amp;rsquo;s HRE work and its contribution to the global HRE movement.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;6.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Coordinate the overall operations, outputs and outcomes of the Africa HRE project team, including; supporting and supervising staff and volunteers in the team, ensuring smooth, efficient and effective operations and high quality outputs from the project team. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;7.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Other tasks as assigned within the responsibility, scope and nature of the post in order to ensure the effective implementation of AHRE project. &lt;/p&gt;

WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS JOB? &lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A successful Project Coordinator will have coordinated and implement key parts of the project plans for the project to achieve its set goals and objectives. This includes the coordination of support for partners and staff at the national level to ensure the smooth and effective running of HRE projects at the national level, and sufficient and effective support and supervision of the national coordinators to implement the project in their respective countries on schedule and in line with agreed norms, plans and procedures. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;S/he will have contributed to the effective functioning of the project team, national coordinators, HRE workers and enhanced their contributions to the overall Project goals, AI mission, the development of HRE policies and upheld AI&amp;rsquo;s values at all times. &lt;/li&gt;

	&lt;li&gt;The post is a full-time position co-ordinating the Arabic version of a multilingual e-activists and international membership programme for Amnesty International (at this stage other languages include English, Spanish and Bangla; French and Brazilian Portuguese will also follow).&lt;/li&gt;

2.&amp;nbsp;Co-ordinate the development, implementation and oversee the maintenance of the Content Management System (CMS) for the project through commissioning and cross programme delivery of content suitable for AI&amp;rsquo;s online campaigning and advocacy, marketing and retention efforts, including &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;initiating growth opportunities by the provision or commissioning of online tools and human rights materials for an online community of e-activists and international members,&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;initiating growth opportunities by the provision or commissioning of Arabic promotional materials applying marketing techniques and aimed at recruiting Arabic e-activists and international members,&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;contributing to the production of creative materials in Arabic for online activism, and&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;problem solving.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3.&amp;nbsp;Co-ordinate and deliver systems of online constituency&amp;nbsp; relations and content management that will service and support the online community of e-activists and international members, including &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;developing guidelines and standards for innovative service provision,&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;ensuring compliance with those guidelines and standards by coordinating input from a cross section of approaches including from within the International Secretariat (human rights research, advocacy, web programme and membership support), within the broader Amnesty movement (frontline AI sections and structures) and beyond (providers of innovative service levels and online activism), &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;coordinate Arabic translations of materials for growth purposes, and&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp; monitoring compliance with the guidelines and standards through activists and membership feedback and data on growth.&lt;br /&gt;

4.&amp;nbsp;Through cross program consultation, devise, coordinate and deliver offline events including workshops and publications for in the MENA region, including&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Agenda and methodology design and development in consultation with key stakeholders and beneficiaries,&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Facilitation and presentation of content at events, and &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Commissioning content, production and distribution of a publication targeting an Arabic speaking audience and aimed at promoting growth in supporters, activists&amp;nbsp; and membership.&lt;br /&gt;

5.&amp;nbsp;Contribute towards the strategic development of the Arabic online community of e-activists and AI international members through anticipating activists needs and wants by providing and/or commissioning research and advice regarding growth in online e-activism and international membership both specific to the project and generically.&lt;br /&gt;

To maximize the use of AI&amp;rsquo;s resources to support SPs. To foster synergy between AI SP project and other strategic priorities.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;DEPARTMENT PURPOSE:&lt;/strong&gt; To develop new ways of growing AI&amp;rsquo;s human right work by working in partnerships with other NGOs, and mobilizing new constituencies of activists.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;AIIS PURPOSE:&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; The IS, which operates from a number of sites around the world, gathers and communicates accurate and action-oriented human rights information globally.&amp;nbsp; We campaign for meaningful human rights change; enable effective human rights activism and work to persuade governments and other actors to uphold universal human rights standards.&amp;nbsp; We provide strategic leadership, support and advice to the AI movement globally, fostering AI&amp;rsquo;s contribution, presence and public accountability throughout the world. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;To provide expert campaigning, activism and mobilization advice and related issues to Strategic Partners, AI staff, and other AI membership bodies, including by reviewing and approving joint AI-NGO materials for accuracy and relevance with respect to AI&#039;s policy within the approvals structure. &lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Develop AI policy, standards and guidelines in relation to Strategic Partnerships. &lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Undertake quality campaigning and activism work, including by organizing or participating in field visits with &amp;ndash; as appropriate &amp;ndash; politicians, police officers, journalists, and other NGO leaders. &lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Write timely and effective reports, briefings, correspondence, action materials, and other internal and external documents to contribute to AI strategies on Strategic Partnerships. &lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Represent AI at relevant meetings, promptly reporting back to the IMP team, other parts of the IS, and the movement, and act as an AI spokesperson on SPs as appropriate. &lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;To co-ordinate AI&amp;rsquo;s efforts to offer capacity building initiatives to SPs in the form of planning, identifying and recruiting trainers and evaluating such initiatives&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS JOB? &lt;/strong&gt;

	&lt;li&gt;The four NGO partners will have a strong and positive relationship with the co-ordinator.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Relevant parts of Amnesty International &amp;ndash; both in the International Secretariat and with relevant Sections &amp;ndash; can work positively and constructively with the co-ordinator.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;

	Sound experience at an international level of working with NGOs in the field, with an appreciation of the difficulties of working on the ground and of working in collaboration with another NGO.

	Professional experience in human rights is essential.

	A sufficiently broad understanding of human rights struggles is essential; experience of human rights work in one or more of the following countries is desirable:&amp;nbsp; Latvia, Uganda, Liberia, Indonesia, Botswana.

	Experience of human rights work in one or more of the following issues is desirable: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights, Death Penalty, Policing and Impunity, Gender-based violence in post-conflict.

	Fluent in written and spoken English
